1. Ribbon breaks are usually caused by one of two issues. If the break looks ragged, or if the ribbon sticks to the card, the ribbon is being melted. The first thing to look at in this case is the color intensity setting. Each color has its own value. Lower the value of the color panel that is breaking.
If the break is clean it usually means the printhead is engaging to early or disenging to late, snapping the ribbon on the sharp ends of the card. Adjust the X value in the driver or application will usually correct.
2. When installing a USB card printer be sure to follow the driver installation process. Usually the printer is not connected to the USB port until after the driver has been installed. The instructions will be specific about when to connect the printer.
3. All printers have minimums and maximums for the size and thickness of cards. These specs very from printer to printer so it is always a good idea to check, especially if there is anything out of the ordinary about the cards you are wanting to use. Standard card size is a 30 mil thick, CR80 size card. |
